Having assessed the amount of work involved in your project, I will provide you with a firm estimate of the costs involved without your incurring any obligation.

For me to start work upon your book, I do ask for a retainer of £1000. This in no way obligates you to proceed further but you will receive a very full draft outline of the work which will enable you to evaluate how best to tackle the project.

The following figures are provided as a guide only for basic writing from materials provided and are exclusive of any research that might be needed, for example in a "ghosted" biography or auto-biography and for expenses when travel is incurred.

•  Ghost writing 30,000 words or less, £3000. (from material supplied by you in the form of notes or an incomplete manuscript). This would mean that for a book of around 250-300 pages, you should allow a total of £7000.

I do not work for a percentage of any possible Royalties, I'm afraid!

•  Additional work is £100 per 1000 words. Obviously, these are very approximate prices.

•  I will edit for style, content and grammar 100 pages or less of your manuscript (approx. 30,000 words) for £600. This is the MAXIMUM it will cost - a firm estimate will be given before starting on the work. The better your manuscript, the lower the cost!

•  101-200 pages for £1,200.

•  201 pages or more for £1,800.

Perhaps a better approach is to decide upon your budget for the work. In general, the more complete your proposal, the less work for the ghostwriter and hence a lower cost. Having figured the amount you can afford to spend, we can then decide upon the best way to complete the work for you. After an initial deposit to retain my services as mentioned above, payments are made in agreed stages as the work progresses.
